Dallas Mavericks Defeat Knicks
Dallas Mavericks are definitely bound for the playoffs. They managed to extend their winning streak to 16 games when they defeated New Jersey Nets 102-89 at the American Airlines Center. It was all thanks to Dirk Nowitzki who scored 22 points, and had 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
This winning streak of 16 games is the 10th longest in the history of NBA. Prior to defeating the Nets, the Mavericks defeated Orlando and they ended up breaking the old franchise record which was set during October 30 and November 27, 2002. The Mavericks have won 51 of their last 56 games and this includes the 23 games at home. They last lost on December 7, 2006 to Detroit in a home game 92-82.
Dallas is the first team in the playoffs and during the game against the Nets, seven Mavericks players reached double figures and they shot 49 percent in the game. Besides Nowitzki, Jason Terry spearheaded the attack with 24 points.
For the Nets, it was Vince Carter who scored 32 points, and had 7 rebounds and 8 assists. This is the third game that the Nets have lost on the trot after winning the previous three game. Mikki Moore also contributed with 20 points while Jason Kidd scored 11 points and had 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
This game was the second and last meeting of the regular season. The Mavericks won the first game 92-75 on December 5, 2006 at the Continental Airlines Arena. During that game, the Nets had shot 43 percent. The Dallas Mavericks have now won 13 games against the Nets from 14 that they have played.
